Permission Pending - student accommodation comprising 67 studio apartments

Residential Nottingham NG1

We are working to obtain planning permission for a circa 65 bed space student development on the edge of Nottingham’s Creative Quarter. The site is in a sensitive location on the edge of the historic Lace Market, which is physically adjoined by existing residential properties, giving rise to potential residential amenity issues such as overlooking, overshadowing and overbearing.

The project is still on going with planning permission not yet granted. However our client was concerned that the council would insist that the site is to be developed for offices or 1 & 2 bedroom apartments. Based upon advice our client had taken from elsewhere, they feared that the Council would not support student accommodation in this location.

Engaging with Nottingham City Council at an early stage, we were able to progress positive discussions with the Council’s planning, conservation and urban design team.
