Permission Granted in South Nottinghamshire Conservation Area

Residential Car Colston, Nottinghamshire, NG13

GraceMachin have secured planning permission for the extension of a residential dwelling within the village of Car Colston, Nottinghamshire. This follows an earlier successful planning application for the same Client for the conversion and change of use of an existing detached garage to form a one-bedroom annex.

The property lies within the affluent village of Car Colston, South Nottinghamshire, within the Conservation Area and close to a number of listed buildings. The original property was a modest 18th century cottage and previously the village post office. However, GraceMachin has been able to work proactively with Rushcliffe Borough Council and its Conservation and Planning Officers to achieve proposals that meet both our Clients objectives of an enlarged family home, and that will also positively enhance the character and appearance of the Car Colston Conservation Area.

Both developments were considered to respect the Rushcliffe Core Strategy, meaning the development will make a positive contribution to the public realm and sense of place and will have regard to the local context and reinforce valued local characteristics. This particular case was in a sensitive Conservation Area location but a positive outcome was achieved within twelve weeks of receiving formal instruction from Client.

Should you be considering the potential to extend or alter your own property, please do not hesitate to contact one of the partners at GraceMachin to discuss your proposals further.
